What's it all about?
Green Box was established in 2010 with the objective to support local food producers by providing an outlet for the sale of their produce. Produce is ordered on our online shop which is open between thursday and monday. Once the shop is closed, purchase orders go out to suppliers who deliver to the warehouse on wednesday. Packing by volunteers for pick-up or local delivery.
Over the last twelve months we have grown to over 150 members and are supplying an average of $3000 produce to customers each week. We have moved from a members garage to a warehouse and then to a larger warehouse in this time.
We are continuing to seek opportunities to support our growth and therefore be of greater support to local growers. Managing growth is bringing many challenges as we aim to do this in a way that is sustainable for our systems, growers and the volunteers who make this possible.
Green Box is now a real alternative to supermarkets in the local marketplace for the produce we sell.
